Trans-Siberian Railway

Have you ever ridden the Trans Siberian Railway? If so, what'd you think about it, and did you think it was worth it? Which route did you ride?

I'm in the process of buying some Christmas gifts and to save on shipping I want to send them all in one parcel instead of separate packages. Dad has told me Mom isn't reliable for answering the door or phone, so I don't trust the package arriving safely if I send it to Mom and Dads.
In other news: I'm trying to buy a XMas tree this year. I'm probably going to be getting a fake one though - as I'm not wanting to clean up the droppings in this small apartment. Also, I've gotten some socks (like you hang on the mantle) for XMas. I also picked up a few candles. Trying to get some more things soon.
If you want to watch a pretty decent fantasy type movie, I'd recommend 'Stardust'. I just watched it today and enjoyed it quite a bit.
I'm really tired right now, so I'm going to bed... Have to work tomorrow *sigh* :(

Not yet. That may be on the front burner after I'm released from work in 2008.
I've heard good things about the trip ... probably not best to go in winter though. Speaking Russki might be helpful.

BTW -
I've been reading a lot of negative comments about Vista on various random forums (and some positive). Seems a lot of people are giving it thumbs down. I think I have an opportunity to free upgrade, and am curious whether it's worth it.
Is this just techno-slugs complaining or legitimate shots at MS incompetence? IYHO of course.
Also, if I come to that part of China in fall 2008, what period is best for weather ... a little cold is better than a little hot. Mid-Oct, late Oct-early Nov, mid-Nov, etc.? I might try to match the aforementioned Trans-Siberian Rail trip with visit to China (starting out of Beijing).
